Why this course is a “must-do”
Blender is an outstanding and free 3D creation suite that empowers children to bring their imaginations to life. This software provides a comprehensive and engaging entry point into the world of computer graphics, sparking in interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathmatics (STEM) through creativity.
As they explore Blender, children will develop crucial skills such as spatial awareness, problem solving and creative thinking. The platform allows them to create everything from 3D-printed models to animated characters and special effects. Unlike expensive commercial alternatives, Blender's zero cost open source nature makes it accessible to every child that has a PC or Laptop with the capability to run it, providing a valuable and transferable skillset that prepares them for future hobbies and professional careers in fields like - Film making, game development and architectural visualization.
WEEK 1 — Blender Basics
Navigation • Modelling basics • Simple shapes • Materials
WEEK 2 — Texture Painting (Digital Painting on a 3D Model)
UV basics • Painting directly onto a 3D object • Adding colour, texture & detail
WEEK 3 — Modifiers
Mirror • Array • Solidify • Boolean • Subdivision to create complex shapes
WEEK 4 — Animation Basics
Keyframing • Moving objects • Timing • Simple motion
WEEK 5 — Kitbashing + Lighting & Rendering
Assemble a small scene from parts • Add lighting • Create final renders
