Crossroads has been an absolute god send from the moment we got in contact with them. We found ourselves needing support to home school our 11 year old daughter who by this time was struggling emotionally from the pressure of trying to fit in, mainstream education. Within 3 weeks she became more confident, looking forward to attending her classes and engaging with the work which is perfectly designed to meet her academic ability. The learning environment is inclusive, motivating and always positive. They consistently go that extra mile and provide a setting that promotes curiosity and confidence. Most importantly, my daughter is happy and thriving and I am so pleased to have them on our side through this learning journey. Consequently, we wholeheartedly 100% recommend Crossroads to anyone looking for support in homeschooling, or tuition.

“My Sonny has been receiving private tuition with Kate at Crossroads and the progress he’s made has been incredible! Kate is highly knowledgeable, patient, and knows exactly how to keep him engaged. His confidence has soared, and he’s now excelling in areas where he previously struggled. I couldn’t be happier with the support and personalized approach he’s receiving. Highly recommend!”

Kate and Gavin at Crossroads educational consultants are truly amazing and a wonderful find. We had to deregister our neurodivergent children (8 and 11) from school last year due to lack of support. Since then we have tried to find a tutor for our youngest so we got a basic primary education, but the tutors only saw her once a week and didn't achieve much and unfortunately messed us around. Then I found Crossroads. We met Kate and she explained how they do 1 session a week with the children but also work online and give loads of resources to the children to work through. She met my daughter who loved her and loved her first lesson so much she convinced her brother to have a tutor too and so we met Gavin. Kate and Gavin tailor the lessons to the children's needs and interests. They don't put any pressure on the children and both love their lessons! My son has a PDA profile and is really difficult to engage in learning but somehow Gavin manages it with ease! Kate and Gavin are really friendly and always contactable which makes our lives easier. 100 stars!!!

Kate and Gavin are the most incredibly supportive tutors. They have so much insight and experience in teaching children who are anxious or neurodiverse. They have been a life line for our family.

Home Education in Wales – FAQs

Choosing Crossroads Educational Consultants to support your child’s home education is a great step towards a brighter future. With our expertise, personalised approach, and commitment to success, we’re here to guide you every step of the way.

Home education is when parents choose to take responsibility for their child’s education instead of sending them to school. Learning can happen in many ways and doesn’t have to look like school at home. Every family’s home education journey is different.

We support home educating families across Wales and beyond with:
 • Personalised learning support
 • Subject tutoring
 • Exam and qualification guidance
 • A private exam centre for home-educated learners

Everything we do is led by compassion, flexibility, and respect for each child.
Yes. Many families come to us at the very start of their home education journey. We can help you understand your options, plan next steps, and feel more confident about moving forward.

Yes. Home educated children can sit GCSEs and other qualifications privately. Crossroads is the first private exam centre in Wales, created specifically to support home-educated learners in a calm and understanding environment.

A private exam centre allows learners who aren’t in school to sit exams. Our exam centre is designed with home-educated learners in mind, offering clear communication, supportive staff, and an environment that reduces stress on exam day.

Tutors are not required for home education, but many families choose to use them for specific subjects, exam preparation, or confidence building. Our growing team of tutors understands home education and adapts learning to suit each child’s pace and needs.

Yes. Many of the families we support have children with additional needs, anxiety, or who have struggled in traditional school settings. Compassion and understanding are at the heart of our approach, and we work alongside families to find what works best for their child.

While we are based in Wales, we support home educating families across Wales and beyond. Much of our support can be offered remotely, and our exam centre is available to families willing to travel.

You can get started by getting in touch with us through our website. We’ll talk through your situation, answer your questions, and help you decide what support — if any — feels right for your family.

Yes. Home education is not one-size-fits-all, and neither is our support. We offer flexible options designed around your child, your family, and your circumstances.
