Home Education in Wales – FAQs

Choosing Crossroads Educational Consultants to support your child’s home education is a great step towards a brighter future. With our expertise, personalised approach, and commitment to success, we’re here to guide you every step of the way.

Home education is when parents choose to take responsibility for their child’s education instead of sending them to school. Learning can happen in many ways and doesn’t have to look like school at home. Every family’s home education journey is different.

We support home educating families across Wales and beyond with:
 • Personalised learning support
 • Subject tutoring
 • Exam and qualification guidance
 • A private exam centre for home-educated learners

Everything we do is led by compassion, flexibility, and respect for each child.
Yes. Many families come to us at the very start of their home education journey. We can help you understand your options, plan next steps, and feel more confident about moving forward.

Yes. Home educated children can sit GCSEs and other qualifications privately. Crossroads is the first private exam centre in Wales, created specifically to support home-educated learners in a calm and understanding environment.

A private exam centre allows learners who aren’t in school to sit exams. Our exam centre is designed with home-educated learners in mind, offering clear communication, supportive staff, and an environment that reduces stress on exam day.

Tutors are not required for home education, but many families choose to use them for specific subjects, exam preparation, or confidence building. Our growing team of tutors understands home education and adapts learning to suit each child’s pace and needs.

Yes. Many of the families we support have children with additional needs, anxiety, or who have struggled in traditional school settings. Compassion and understanding are at the heart of our approach, and we work alongside families to find what works best for their child.

While we are based in Wales, we support home educating families across Wales and beyond. Much of our support can be offered remotely, and our exam centre is available to families willing to travel.

You can get started by getting in touch with us through our website. We’ll talk through your situation, answer your questions, and help you decide what support — if any — feels right for your family.

Yes. Home education is not one-size-fits-all, and neither is our support. We offer flexible options designed around your child, your family, and your circumstances.

 Still Have Questions?
