Our WJEC GCSE Media Studies Course gives students the opportunity to explore the creative and analytical side of media through a combination of theory, discussion, and practical production work.
This is a one-year GCSE course designed to support students in developing their understanding of media industries, media language, representation, audiences, and practical media production skills.
Course Details
Start Date: Tuesday 8th September 2026
Sessions: Every other Tuesday (term time)
Time: 1:00pm – 2:30pm
Location: Crossroads Exam Centre, Caerphilly
The GCSE examination will take place in Summer 2027 at Crossroads Exam Centre, Caerphilly.
Practical Media Sessions
Students will take part in practical sessions where they will develop skills in digital media creation, including planning, designing, creating, and evaluating media products.
Students will use industry-standard software and creative tools, including programmes such as Blender, to develop their practical skills and understanding of digital media production.
Equipment Requirements
Students will need to bring their own laptop to each session.
To ensure students can access the required software effectively, laptops will need to meet the following minimum specification:
- Minimum 16GB RAM
- Ability to run creative software such as Blender
- Suitable for digital media production tasks
