Course Information
Discover the exciting world of game development by creating your own retro-style games using PICO-8, a beginner-friendly fantasy games console designed to teach coding through creativity. In a friendly and supportive environment, you’ll learn how games are made by designing characters, creating movement, detecting collisions and bringing your own ideas to life.
No previous coding experience is needed. Programming concepts such as variables, functions, conditions and coordinates are introduced naturally through hands-on game-building activities, making coding fun, engaging and easy to understand. Sessions are led by experienced developer and educator Andre Gapper, who will guide learners through each stage, offering support, encouragement and practical tips along the way.
By the end of the course, learners will have created their own playable game, developed a strong understanding of the fundamentals of game programming and gained the confidence to continue exploring coding and game development.
