Our Edexcel GCSE English Literature Course provides students with the opportunity to study a range of engaging literary texts, developing confidence in analysing, interpreting, and responding to literature.
This is a one-year GCSE course designed to support students in building the skills needed for examination success, including essay writing, understanding context, exploring writer’s methods, and developing independent opinions about texts.

Sessions: Every other Tuesday (term time)
Time: 1:00pm – 2:30pm
Location: Crossroads Exam Centre, Caerphilly
The GCSE examination will take place in Summer 2027 at Crossroads Exam Centre, Caerphilly.
Course Content
Throughout the course, students will develop their understanding of:
- Prose, poetry, and drama texts
- Character development and relationships
- Themes and ideas within literature
- Language, structure, and writer’s techniques
- Historical and social context
- Planning and writing effective examination responses
Students will be supported in developing their analytical skills, building confidence in expressing their ideas, and preparing effectively for their GCSE examinations.

- Guided text analysis

- Exam question practice
- Essay planning and development
- Feedback and improvement strategies
Students will be encouraged to develop their own interpretations while learning how to structure strong, well-supported exam responses.
