Bring science to life with the Crossroads Science Practical Academy, a unique programme of 16 hands-on Lab Workshops designed to develop the practical skills, scientific thinking and confidence needed for GCSE Science success.
Designed around exam boards specified practicals and carefully mapped against the AQA, Pearson Edexcel, WJEC and Cambridge iGCSE specifications, this engaging programme gives students the opportunity to complete a wide range of Biology, Chemistry and Physics investigations in a fully equipped laboratory environment.
Our Lab Workshops go beyond simply completing required practicals. Every session develops the practical techniques, mathematical skills and scientific enquiry required by GCSE examination boards, helping students understand not only how to carry out an investigation but also why it works and how to apply their findings in written examinations.

Throughout the Academy, students will:
- Complete 16 engaging Lab Workshops across Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
- Develop confidence using real laboratory equipment and scientific techniques.
- Collect, analyse and interpret experimental data.
- Build graphing, calculation and evaluation skills required for GCSE Science.
- Apply practical findings to GCSE-style examination questions.
- Develop teamwork, communication and independent scientific enquiry skills.
- Gain experience across the major UK GCSE Science specifications.

The Academy follows a carefully planned progression throughout the academic year, allowing students to build their skills step by step before bringing everything together in a final Practical Challenge, where they apply the techniques and scientific thinking developed across the course.
