As Exams Officer, it has been incredibly rewarding to see months of preparation come together and to welcome candidates into a calm, supportive and professional exam environment.

Launching a new exam centre is no small task, and this summer has been a huge milestone for us. From preparing exam rooms and training invigilators to supporting candidates and liaising with exam boards, every detail has mattered. Seeing students arrive feeling confident and ready to achieve their goals has made all the hard work worthwhile.

While the summer series is still underway, we are already busy putting plans in place for the Autumn exam series. Applications are now available, and we will begin formally administering entries from June onwards. Families considering booking exams this autumn are encouraged to get in touch as early as possible, particularly where access arrangements may be required.

It is important to remember that exam board deadlines arrive quickly. Depending on the qualification and awarding body, entry deadlines fall across August and September, with some access arrangement deadlines taking place as early as July. Early communication gives us the best opportunity to guide candidates through the process smoothly and ensure all necessary support is in place.

The Autumn exam series provides valuable opportunities for a wide range of learners. Many students use the session to resit GCSE English Language and GCSE Mathematics, particularly if they are aiming to improve grades for college, sixth form or employment pathways. We also expect entries for a variety of IGCSE subjects, Essential Skills qualifications and selected GCSE and AS levels where autumn sittings are available.

For home educated students, private candidates and adult learners, the autumn series can be especially useful. Some candidates are looking to strengthen university applications, others are returning to education later in life, and many simply want another opportunity to achieve the results they know they are capable of. Whatever the reason, we are proud to offer a welcoming and supportive environment where candidates can focus on success.

As we continue to grow, we are incredibly grateful for the support and trust shown by families, learners and the wider community across Caerphilly Wales and beyond. This first summer season has been a fantastic beginning, and we are excited about building on that momentum as we move towards autumn and future exam series.

If you are considering booking exams this autumn, now is the ideal time to start the conversation. We look forward to supporting many more learners on their educational journey in the months ahead.

Here at Crossroads Exam Centre, there is a real sense of excitement in the air as we move through our very first summer exam season.
